A new federal law guarantees that some primates who've served as scientific guinea pigs won't go under the knife again. Sen. Richard Burr wrote the law, which covers animal retirees at Chimp Haven in Keithville, La. Research at Chimp Haven is now restricted to noninvasive behavioral studies and medical studies based on information gathered during normal veterinary care.
