AVMA Council on Education may get new voting member
Schaumburg, Ill. - The Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) might get voting rights on accreditation decisions if a bylaws amendment is approved by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) House of Delegates (HOD) at its annual meeting in July.
Schaumburg, Ill. — The Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) might get voting rights on accreditation decisions if a bylaws amendment is approved by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) House of Delegates (HOD) at its annual meeting in July.
The amendment, labeled Proposed Bylaws Amendment 1 on the HOD agenda, would grant voting rights for the AAVMC liaison to the AVMA Council on Education (COE). The liaison has been involved in all COE activities in the past, accompanying the group on site visits and participating in council discussions, except the liaison was never granted an official vote on any COE matters.
The amendment is backed by the AVMA/AAVMC Joint Committee, the COE, the AVMA House Advisory Committee and the Executive Board. If approved by the HOD, the COE would consist of 15 voting members of AVMA, an AAVMC voting member and four additional AVMA non-voting members.
