Al Atkinson, DVM, ABVP: In the grand scheme of things, if you have good staff and they are happy to be there, and they know that their contributions are being used, or at least being tried, they are going to work hard and overall in the end, the bottom line will be better and everyone will be happier. It is just one of those things that seems intuitive but when you look at bottom line numbers and [practice owners] say 'Oh I can't afford to pay more,' the real answer is, you can't afford to not pay more.
