Pet insurance helps pets get the care they need
Because of pet insurance, one of Dr. Robin Downing's clients at Windsor Veterinary Clinic in Windsor, Colo., was willing to do whatever was necessary in order to take care of his pet. This client's dog had two fractured teeth—not a serious dental problem, but it required repair and restoration of the teeth. The care was going to cost over $1,000, but the pet was insured, so 80 percent of the procedure, minus deductible, was covered. "Because this client had insurance, it meant that he didn't have to go into debt," Dr. Downing says. "But more importantly, he didn't have to make the painful decision: 'I can't fix my dog's problem because I don't have the resources. What do I do?'" Dr. Downing says.
