Kevin Snyder, DVM, MS, DACVO: The coverage for ophthalmology has been really intermittent and so someone will come up [to Alaska] and diagnose a problem, but there is no follow-up [and] there is no potential for rechecks. If there is a surgery done you don't get that 3 to 4 weeks to months of follow-up to make sure it was successful. So to be able to provide the full-time service now where I am here year-round and we can do almost any surgery...we can offer everything that you can find in Seattle or Portland and [clients] can stay here.
