For the third year in a row, the popular online program will be offered to veterinary professionals.
The University of California, Davis (UC Davis), School of Veterinary Medicine, and UC Davis Graduate School of Management (GSM) announced the return of its Foundations of Veterinary Business certificate program.
The program is designed for practice owners, hospital administrators, practice leaders, and prospective owners and combines online, self-paced modules on general business principles with 3 live interactive Zoom sessions. Each session covers practical, veterinary-specific business concepts and will take place on June 18, July 16, and August 13, 2022.
"The Foundations of Veterinary Business Program is a great way to invest in yourself and your future success," Sean Gadson, DVM, who participated in the inaugural class, told dvm360®. "Concepts that seemed daunting were broken down and made understandable and applicable to individuals at all stages of their career."
Through this program, professionals will learn to further their understanding of business basics such as finance, marketing, strategy, and managerial accounting. Attendees will also work in groups to complete an online Capstone Project in which groups will analyze actual practice data and present their findings in the final Zoom session.
“A full MBA isn't needed to be a highly successful practice leader, owner, or hospital administrator. A solid understanding of our industry and important basic business concepts, however, is a huge benefit,” said Jim Clark, DVM, MBA.
“Our fully online program gives busy working professionals the opportunity to grow their business acumen at a fraction of the cost of an MBA and includes veterinary-specific material to foster success in our field," he continued.
Registration is limited to 50 participants and costs $2,500. According to the release, there are 15 spots reserved for UC Davis veterinary students who receive scholarship support from a UC Davis Platinum program partner Zoetis. Those who complete the will receive a certificate from the UC Davis GSM and CE credit.
