What Does the Veterinary Nutrition Technician Do?

Kara M. Burns, MS, MEd, LVT, VTS (Nutrition), president of the Academy of Veterinary Nutrition Technicians, explains what nutrition technicians should be responsible for in a veterinary practice.

Veterinary nutrition technicians should be the ones educating the clients about proper nutition for their pets. They should also be the ones managing the feeding tubes, managing weight management cases and managing puppy and kitten cases to free up time for what only the general veterinarian can do.
