The North American Veterinary Anesthesia Society (NAVAS) helps veterinary professionals and caregivers advance and improve the safe administration of anesthesia and analgesia to all animals, through development of standards consistent with recent findings documented in high quality basic and clinical scientific publications and texts. These standards and guidelines foster and encourage education, research, and scientific progress in anesthesia and analgesia and support the activities of all animal care givers engaged in the provision of veterinary anesthesia and analgesia. This mission parallels that of the American and European Colleges of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia and their board certified diplomates who are recognized by the AVMA as specialists in these fields of clinical medicine in North America.
In its collaboration with the existing ACVAA/ ECVAA Specialty Colleges and organizations such as the Association of Veterinary Anesthetists (AVA), the NAVAS endeavors to strengthen and advance international efforts to improve and achieve quality veterinary anesthesia and analgesia care on a global scale. The NAVAS encourages discussion and disseminate information to all those interested in veterinary anesthesia and analgesia, including the general public. The NAVAS strives to be a community of, and an accessible resource for, all veterinary caregivers and interested individuals within the general public on matters relevant to veterinary anesthesia, analgesia, and related animal welfare.
