Austin, Texas — The American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) will hold two summer continuing-education meetings — one medical and one practice-management seminar — July 27-29 at the Hilton Austin.
The Focus session topic is "The First Year of Life," aimed at providing current research and advanced techniques in foal care. Sessions will cover neurological and genetic disorders, limb deformities, ultrasonography, caring for the critically ill foal and fracture management. The Focus program is sponsored by AAEP educational partner Bayer Healthcare's Animal Health Division.
The practice-management seminar will cover analysis of a practice's economic performance, best practices for screening prospective employees and employment law for large- and small-animal practices. There will be breakout sessions for attendees to share case studies. The practice-management session is sponsored by AAEP educational partner Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedia Inc.
The summer meetings also include a Healthy Horses Workshop on July 26 for owners, with AAEP veterinarians addressing current equine medicine topics. Trainer Monty Roberts will lecture.
A single registration fee covers both meetings. For details, visit www.aaep.org or call (859) 233-0147.
