DENVER, COLO. — The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) is in the discovery phase — for the second time — of developing a nationwide group health-insurance plan.
The organization implemented the AAHA Business Insurance Program in 2006 using HUB International Midwest Limited as the recommended program broker. But when it was unable to secure an underwriter, the program was abandoned.
Deeming it "premature" to comment further on the current program, AAHA President Thomas Carpenter, DVM, says he is unsure how long the process might take.
"Nothing is finalized. They are still in the very preliminary stages," says Jason Merrihew, AAHA marketing communications coordinator.
