DENVER, COLO. — The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) has released two publications as part of the Practice Management Solution Series to help assist those interested in practice start-up or purchase.
AAHA Press's Buying a Veterinary Practice and Starting Your Own Veterinary Practice discuss the advantages and disadvantages of buying, starting and managing a practice. Both also contain a CD-ROM with templates that can be customized to the user's needs.
"These publications answer so many questions that veterinarians have as they consider whether to buy or start their own practices," says Erin Landeck, manager of AAHA Press, which specializes in user-friendly references and medical and management resources for small-animal practices.
Buying a Veterinary Practice, authored by Lorraine Monheiser List, management consultant and valuation expert for the veterinary profession, teaches readers how to evaluate and go about purchasing prospective practices. Creating a mission statement, developing a budget and measuring success are covered in Starting Your Own Veterinary Practice.
The books are available to AAHA members for $45 each, and to non-members for $55.
