Schaumburg, Ill. - 1/14/08 - Nominations for the American Veterinary Medical Association's 2008 Humane Award are being accepted through Feb. 1.
The award aims to bring attention to animal welfare, encourage responsible animal use and reward thoughtful and science-based advocacy.
Given annually to a non-veterinarian, the award recognizes achievements in advancing the welfare of animals through leadership, public service, education, research and advocacy. The selected winner is given a $500 stipend and reimbursement of expenses for travel to the award ceremony.
Anyone may nominate a non-DVM for the award by submitting a nomination form, curriculum vitae, color photograph of the nominee, detailed letter of nomination and up to three letters of support for the candidate.
