WASHINGTON — The American Veterinary Medical Association's membership increased 2.1 percent last year for a net gain of 1,579 members.
The 2006 numbers, which show total membership at 75,182, appear in the 2006-2007 Administrative Report released last month during the AVMA House of Delegates meeting in Washington. Much of the gain is credited to new graduates. Eight of the nation's 28 accredited veterinary programs claim 100 percent of their graduates enlisted, AVMA Membership and Field Services Division officials say.
