AVMA warns veterinarians about credit card services scam
Schaumburg, Ill. -- The American Veterinary Medical Association is warning veterinarians about a possible scam involving a credit card processing company.

— The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) is warning veterinarians about a possible scam involving a credit card processing company.
The association reports that veterinarians have been targeted by a credit card company claiming to have an affiliation with the national veterinary association. While AVMA officials would not name the company, the association reports it has warned company officials to stop making these claims.
The only credit-card company the association has an established partnership with is Bank of America Merchant Services, AVMA notes. Neither Bank of America nor AVMA solicits members to enroll in a credit card program.
The company in question, however, has been making calls to AVMA members claiming to be an “AVMA representative,” referencing an “AVMA-endorsed program.” AVMA asserts that no partnership exists with this company and the veterinary association is not making the calls.
