Cynthia Otto, DVM, PhD, DACVECC, DACVSMR: We have breeders who actually apply to donate a dog and we look at the dogs that they are breeding, the health of the dogs, the performance of the dogs. We are really looking at the whole package, making sure that we have a dog that has all the genetic potential to succeed in a career in search and rescue, or law enforcement, or some other detection work.
