BizQuiz: Can you temper team conflict? (Answer 2a)

Article

Taking the BizQuiz? This is the answer to question 2 of "Can you temper team conflict?"

2) A-Wrong.

A healthy veterinary team disagrees-maybe even a lot. Different people have different ideas and suggestions for improving patient care, client relations, and clinic workflow. These types of discussions and reasonable arguments are not a problem if they're held away from clients' ears and in a respectful manner. What is a problem: Running scared from conflict or letting it derail everyone's hard work.

To ensure your practice is appropriately handling disagreements, you need to plan ahead. Help develop a system so everyone from kennel attendants to the veterinary technicians can offer ideas for improving the practice. Then foster discussion of these ideas with fellow team members and the managers who can approve them. Changes work better when everyone has a chance to speak and contribute.
