Good idea. We definitely want to be sure to follow up on that elevated ALT. If it returns to normal, then we would suspect injury was caused by the NSAID and plan on rechecking a liver panel in six months. If it remains elevated, however, we would be more suspicious that the changes seen on the abdominal ultrasonographic examination may be more sinister than benign nodular regeneration and would again discuss biopsy with the owner.
