Jimmy Barr, DVM, DACVECC, explains how this new partnership program will work moving forward
In an interview with dvm360, BluePearl chief medical officer, Jimmy Barr, DVM, DACVECC, explained the new BluePearl University Partnership Program in which BluePearl clinicians will work in a hybrid role with veterinary colleges across the United States. The clinicians will share their expertise with veterinary students and hopefully help address the shortage of veterinary specialists and professionals.

Jimmy Barr, DVM, DACVECC: The partnerships are forming with the universities around the country is a pretty simple one. Thinking about, 'what are those problems that are facing our profession at this moment?' Everybody would agree—or most people would agree—that a shortage of veterinarians is a real problem when we're trying to care for pets. And around the board depending on [whether it's on] a micro level in a hospital working on a shift, or seeing appointments in the day, it's much better when you have a colleague there to work through with and do those appointments with you and actually be able to collaborate. We don't have enough of that in our profession at the moment.
