CVC Kansas City kicks off today; draws veterinarians from around the world

-- The party began at CVC Kansas City today. And according to conference organizers, pre-registration attendance has been strong.

"We have had a lot of activity and excitement going on in this building starting at 8 a.m.," says Peggy Shandy Lane, director of Conventions, Meetings and Events for CVC, which is owned by Advanstar Communications.

The conference celebrates its 22nd year and boasts of some 700-plus hours of seminars, labs and workshops. It also connects thousands of veterinarians with more than 300 exhibiting animal-health companies. The conference hosts multiple tracks of medical topics covering an array of specialty areas in small-animal, equine and food-animal medicine.

Talks were delivered today featuring everything from legal pitfalls to managing problem behavior cases. Tomorrow singer Sara Evans will take the stage in Municipal Auditorium in a concert sponsored by Hill's Pet Nutrition and Bayer Animal Health.

The International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management is hosting its annual meeting and symposium tomorrow. In addition, the American Veterinary Medical Law Association will cover license defense and practice sales, to name a few topics.

Pre-convention programs featured a Hospital Design Conference, Progress in Practice Seminars and Firstline Live.
