Dr. Juan Carlos Murillo, a veterinary officer with the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) Disaster Management, and other volunteers talked to locals in Port au Prince as they checked animals for injury and disease. Animal injuries following the quake were minimal, but there was a great need to educate residents about zoonotic disease risks.
