Philippa Pavia, VMD, DACVS-SA: So what I'll do [during orthopedic exams] is make sure [that] I am in an enclosed area where the cat can walk around [and] we won't lose them in the ceiling tiles or whatever the case may be. I will also use their carrier as sort of a bribe. A lot of [cats] when they are stressed at the vet will want to go back in the carrier, so if you set them down and move the carrier away from them very frequently, they will walk toward the carrier.
