Florida DVM is AAEP's 2010 vice-president
Dr. John Mitchell will be installed at the group's 55th annual convention Dec. 5-9 in Las Vegas.

-- John Mitchell, DVM, a racetrack practitioner in Pompano Beach, Fla., has been named 2010 vice-president of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) and will be installed at the group's 55th annual convention Dec. 5-9 in Las Vegas.

Mitchell will be sworn in as a member of the AAEP Executive Committee, putting him in rotation to become the AAEP's president in 2012. Vice-presidents move to president-elect the following year and then to president one year later.
Dr. Harry Werner of Connecticut is the 2009 AAEP president. Dr. Nat White of Virginia Tech will be president in 2010 and Dr. Bill Moyer of Texas A&M will lead the group in 2011.
Mitchell, a native of Cadiz, Ohio, received his DVM degree from The Ohio State University in 1972 and interned at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. His current practice at Pompano Park focuses on performance exams, diagnostics and the economic investments of clients. He owned Equine Associates in Boca Raton, Fla., from 1975 to 1995.
