SCHAUMBURG, ILL. — Dr. Christine N. Hoang is the American Veterinary Medical Association's assistant director of the Scientific Activities Division. She fills the seat vacated by Dr. Elizabeth Curry-Galvin, who was promoted to division director last year.

Hoang served as an intern at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, aiding in avian-influenza control and eradication efforts in Vietnam. She also has worked as an extern with the federal government's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and as an intern for the Public Policy Center of the National Pork Producers Council. Hoang's new responsibilities include working with several AVMA councils and committees on issues relating to public health, zoonoses and food safety.
