How diversity in the veterinary field can inspire incoming students
Courtney Campbell, DVM, DACVS-SA, shared how seeing someone like himself represented in the veterinary industry led him to pursue this career
In an interview with dvm360®, Courtney Campbell, DVM, DACVS-SA, a veterinary surgeon at VetSurg and board member of the Diversify Veterinary Medicine Coalition, explained how he became interested in pursuing a career in veterinary medicine as he flipped through college pamphlets. After graduating a predominantly white high school, Campbell felt hopeful after seeing his identity represented in this industry.
The following is a partial transcript of the video.
Courtney Campbell, DVM, DACVS-SA: Inclusion is very powerful. I was looking through undergraduate colleges, but for some reason, a pamplet for veterinary school got intermixed in that pile of pamplets.
