Moyer named AAEP vice president for 2009

Lexington, Ky. -- William Moyer, DVM, professor of sports medicine and head of the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences at Texas A&M University's College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, was named 2009 vice president of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP).

-- William Moyer, DVM, professor of sports medicine and head of the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences at Texas A&M University's College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, was named 2009 vice president of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP).

He will serve on the group's executive committee in 2009 and become AAEP president in 2011.

Moyer, who came to Texas A&M in 1993 after more than two decades on the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, is a recognized expert on equine lameness, having authored or co-authored several textbooks.

Earlier this year, he traveled to Iraq with a U.S. team assessing postwar reconstruction needs. His role to was to help evaluate the state of veterinary education in Iraq and offer recommendations.
