KANSAS CITY — The North American Pet Health Insurance Association (NAPHIA), which formed in 2007, will locate in Kansas City, the group announced.
In the past four years, the pet health insurance market has grown 56 percent, making the formation of NAPHIA a necessity, according to Association President Darryl Rawlings. He says NAPHIA's mission is to educate and promote the benefits of pet health insurance to pet owners, the public and the veterinary industry.
Several major insurers signed up with NAPHIA. The group's standards are:
» Fees are not dictated, and clients can choose any veterinarian. In addition, veterinarians do not need to participate in the program, nor will they be exempt if they participate in other pet health insurance programs.
» A third party is available for claims disputes. Claims will be processed within 10 days and clients are able to rate the company publicly on its Web site.
