The One Health Commission is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing health science professions and their related disciplines, academic institutions, and industries toward improved assessment, treatment, and prevention of cross-species disease transmission. Hosting the summit was identified as one of biggest goals of the organization, led by former American Veterinary Medical Association president Dr. Roger Mahr.
Some of the speakers slated for the five-hour summit are The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine Dean Dr. Lonnie King, Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges Executive Director Dr. Marguerite Pappaioanou, director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Veterinary Services Laboratories Dr. Elizabeth Lautner, and many other leaders from human and animal medicine.
