Schaumberg, Ill.
-- A comprehensive online continuing-education program will be unveiled by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Dec. 1.
The program will alert practitioners about the latest developments in veterinary medicine when it's most convenient for them. Content will be developed through the AVMA's annual convention and the association's two publications, JAVMA and AJVR.
Those who register on the AVMA Ed Web site can browse for free, but must pay by credit card for a full offering or to take an exam. AVMA members will get a discount, and student AVMA members can access content for free.
As an incentive, AVMA says one free course will be offered to every member through Dec. 31.
Some of the course work will be based on two or three articles from each JAVMA issue, followed by a short test to earn one hour of credit. Content will cover a variety of topics, including small-animal, equine, dentistry and practice management.
The site is not active yet, but will be on Dec. 1 www.avmaed.org..
