Stuart Walton, BVSc (Hons), BSCAgr (Hons): With cats in particular, anything that will stop the cat [from] eating, has the potential to cause lipidosis. And that is for a couple of reasons. One of the main reasons is that cats rely on protein as their major source of energy. So when a cat stops eating, that protein...actually goes missing.
