The Not One More Vet (NOMV) Race Around the World aims to raise awareness and funds to support the mental well-being of veterinary professionals throughout September
Not One More Vet (NOMV)—a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to improving and supporting mental health and wellness in the veterinary profession—is hosting its third annual Race Around the World. The online fitness event seeks to promote mental well-being in the veterinary space while raising money for programs that support that mission. Registration is open now, and the event will take place throughout September to mark Suicide Prevention Awareness month.
For the past 3 years, Race Around the World and NOMV have sought to engage veterinary professionals, veterinary adjacent professionals, friends, family, pet parents, and supporters everywhere in an online effort to walk, run, bike, or horseback ride their way around the world. Last year, according to NOMV, 2,404 racers from 18 countries traveled a distance equivalent to more than 5 times around the world and raised $246,000 for programs supporting the mental health and wellness of veterinary teams.1
There is a $10 entry fee to join the event, $8 of which goes directly to NOMV, and participants then complete physical activity challenges and can track their friendly competion with others around the world on a global leaderboard.
The 2022 Race Around the World has moved to a new platform and added new features, including a “Racer’s Choice” activity option, which awards 8 km for each hour of activities like Yoga, Zumba, or even a game of pickleball. Participants can sign up individually, join a team, start their own team, or donate to the campaign.
