Veterinary Woman Role Model – Laura Higham

In light of Women's History Month, a female role model in veterinary medicine is being spotlighted.

Renowned in the veterinary field for prioritizing sustainability, Laura Higham, MSc, BVM&S, has been fundamental in spotlighting the vital roles the veterinary industry can play in launching proactive change.

Laura graduated from The University of Edinburgh veterinary school in 2008, working in mixed practice in the UK and New Zealand. She then joined the international animal welfare NGO, SPANA and worked in equid and livestock projects in disaster preparedness and response throughout Africa, the Middle East and central Asia. These projects consisted of creating a community animal healthcare project with pastoralists in Darfur with the UN’s refugee agency and managing water access for herders and veterinary training programmes in Mongolia’s Gobi Desert.
