Dr. Sara Calvarese attended the University of Virginia, where she earned her bachelor of arts degree in environmental science with a minor in biology. She received her veterinary degree from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Calvarese then completed a combined academic and private practice internship with Purdue University and St. Joe Center Veterinary Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She then completed a three-year residency program with Eye Care for Animals, after which she became a board certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. Her special interests include wildlife and exotic animal ophthalmology, as well as promoting public awareness of veterinary ophthalmology.
