And how to help inform clients to successfully feed their pets this way

For whatever the reason may be, some pet owners today are interested in feeding their pets with homemade diets. In this dvm360® interview, Fetch Charlotte faculty member Laura Gaylord, DVM, DACVIM (Nutrition), owner/founder of Whole Pet Provisions, PLLC, describes 3 concerns to discuss with these clients so they can ensure their companion animals receive optimal nutrition.

The following is a partial transcript of the video.

Laura Gaylord, DVM, DACVIM (Nutrition): We're really concerned that that diet could be unbalanced, [or that] it doesn't contain all the nutrition that pet needs. So making sure the pet owner has a properly formulated recipe, and it's really individualized for that pet, for that individual dog. And certainly, if it has a medical condition, we want to make sure it's meeting what we call nutrients of concern for that disease condition.
