ACVC 2019: The CBD discussion: What veterinary professionals need to know

Video

Dr. Charlotte Lacroix shares the best way to approach the CBD topic with clients.

At the 2019 Atlantic Coast Veterinary Conference (ACVC), Charlotte Lacroix, DVM, JD, founder and CEO of Veterinary Business Advisors, Inc., in Whitehouse Station, NJ, spoke with dvm360 about everyone's favorite topic: cannabidiol (CBD) in veterinary medicine. She cautioned that even though CBD products are showing promise in a number of treatment areas, it is important to let clients know that currently no CBD products are FDA approved for use in pets.

"There is certainly evidence in the veterinary literature that CBD may be helpful and, clearly, the consumer wants to use this product, but right now it's a rodeo," she says.

So how should veterinary professionals handle these difficult conversations about CBD products? Watch the video below to hear some of Dr. LaCroix's recommendations and strategies.
