LOUISVILLE, KY. - 06/02/06 - Despite being forced to move its meeting from hurricane-battered New Orleans last year, attendance at this year's American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) Forum remained on target, conference organizers report. In its second day, the meeting nearly met overall attendance goals.
Preliminary attendance numbers boast of 2,923 veterinarians and technicians, just shy of the 3,000 attendee goal set for the meeting, reports Jenn Zohn, a spokesperson for ACVIM's meeting. Walk-in registrations had not yet been tabulated from the Kentucky International Convention Center.
ACVIM's meeting kicked off May 31 here with an estimated 350 scientific sessions, workshops, special interest groups and case discussions. Sessions on zoonotic disease and a myriad of offerings from different specialty areas highlight the meeting. Scientific program tracks were offered simultaneously for specialists, general practitioners and veterinary technicians. The meeting concludes June 3 with a keynote address from Dr. Frederick A. Murphy from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston on zoonotic disease.
