Seattle, Wash. - 6/11/07 - The American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) 25th Annual Forum set an attendance record even before the hosting of the featured pet food recall panel, scheduled for Saturday, June 9.
As of Friday, June 8, the forum boasted 3,742 veterinarians, veterinary technicians and student attendees from more than 30 countries, breaking the record 3,240 attendees set at the 2005 forum in Baltimore, MD, says spokesperson Jenn Armbruster.
Featured speakers included Philip Bergman, DVM, ACVIM with The Animal Medical Center, who presented research and information abou the canine melanoma vaccine, now available for use. ACVIM also hosted a presentation on the "fat cat" study, the first double blind study of its kind, says Armbruster.
A pet food recall panel will be held throughout the day on Saturday, June 9. "It is such a big, key topic for the veterinary community to get together and share what we know on the issues. It is a great place for colleagues to gather and discuss," Armbruster says.
The panel is comprised of a wide range of experts, including pet food industry representatives and pathology and nephrology specialists.
