According to the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention, over 50% of dogs and cats are overweight or obese.1 In this dvm360® interview, Fetch Charlotte faculty member Laura Gaylord, DVM, DACVIM (Nutrition), owner/founder of Whole Pet Provisions, PLLC, outlines modern solutions for these pets.

Laura Gaylord, DVM, DACVIM (Nutrition): Often the recommendation from the veterinarian is just to feed less of that food. And I feel like there is a better way to do that. We can choose diets that are properly designed for weight management in those cases, or perhaps even give consideration to proactively choosing diets that mitigate weight gain, particularly for the spayed and neutered pet.
