A pet owner recently contacted Debra Vey Voda-Hamilton, Esq, principal at Hamilton Law & Mediation, regarding a mediation with their veterinarian because they thought their pet's surgery was done poorly. The pet owner could have sued and the veterinarian would have had their license reviewed, Voda-Hamilton says, but instead, they were able to have a simple conversation.
The pet owner supplied information about what happened post-surgery with their pet, which the veterinarian had no knowledge of. The veterinarian was grateful for the chance to learn from their mistakes and ended up paying half the pet owner's expenses. Voda-Hamilton says everyone walked out as if they had won.
