Animal Cruelty Statutes

There is some type of federal animal cruelty statute across all 50 states, but each state's statute is different. Janette Reever, senior manager of animal crimes for The Humane Society of the United States, talks about the different animal cruelty statutes that some states have.

In South Carolina, the animal cruelty statute doesn't apply to poultry, but In Oklahoma it's a felony across the board no matter which animal is being abused.
