Denver — Applications to Morris Animal Foundation's (MAF) Veterinary Student Scholars (VSS) program doubled this year, and a total of 81 students received awards.
MAF dished out more than 300 grants to students from more than 50 colleges and universities in 15 countries through the VSS program since 2005. Veterinary students or non-veterinary graduate students can receive stipends of up to $4,000 to participate in clinical or basic animal-health and/or welfare research.
The increased interest in the VSS program is an indicator of the popularity of veterinary student programs that offer hands-on training, MAF says.
