Regular evaluations are a chance to make sure employees remain challenged and fulfilled, says Brian Conrad, CVPM, practice manager at Meadow Hills Veterinary Center in Kennewick, Wash. You should know what criteria you’re judged on, what expectations are of your work, and what to expect during the face-to-face evaluation itself. Evaluations should happen at least once a year. And if there’s a problem, it should never be a surprise sprung at the evaluation. Good managers let team members know quickly when they’re falling behind.
