Bond Vet announced its first Intern of the Year award to recognize veterinary interns who made a difference during their internship. A $10,000 cash prize will be awarded to the grand prize winner, a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine who is enrolled in a 2022-2023 internship.

The Bond Vet Intern of the Year Panel – made up of 5 doctors employed by the awards sponsors— will review the nominations to be sure all that are in consideration for the award are eligible by April 30, 2023.1 The Panel will then determine a winner based on the statements submitted by the nominating parties and a winner will be notified within 5 business days of the date notice is sent or such other date decided by the sponsor.

“It’s important to me that we’re constantly building a pipeline of excellent practitioners and supporting their growth in the veterinary space,” expressed Zay Satchu, DVM, co-founder and chief veterinary officer of Bond Vet, in an organizational release.2 “We want to encourage more sustainable veterinary careers, and a $10,000 prize goes a long way toward reducing stress that comes with student loans.”

According to the release,2 an average intern's compensation is less than $30,000 for 60-80 hours’ worth of work, causing burning and fatigue before hopeful veterinary professionals even fully begin their careers.

The deadline for nominations is March 31st, 2023. To learn more, including who is eligible for this award, visit the Bond Vet website.1
