Article

After a solid September, revenue slows for most California practices.

Gatto McFerson CPAs' monthly tracking report of California veterinary practices is in for the month of October. And the numbers aren't great. The latest survey in an ongoing study of 160 practices conducted by the accounting firm revealed the following for the month of October:

> Small animal general practices in Southern California saw a revenue increase of about 1 percent for the month, as compared to 2010.

> Small animal general practices in Northern California also saw a revenue increase of about 1 percent for the month, as compared to 2010.

> Specialty, emergency, and referral practices throughout the state saw their revenue increase 2 to 3 percent for the month, as compared to 2010.

In September, small animal practices in both Southern and Northern California saw revenue increases of about 2 to 3 percent for the month, as compared to 2010. Specialty, emergency, and referral practices saw their revenue remain flat.
