Try again. While prednisone will indeed increase renal excretion and intestinal absorption of calcium, it is not addressing the underlying problem and will increase the patient's risk of urolithiasis. This should only be done palliatively and with saline diuresis if the patient is ill from the hypercalcemia and the owners cannot pursue other testing or treatment.
