• Scientific conservation programs
• Use as food and other products
• Tourism and immigration
• Personal pets
• Commercial pet trade

o Required to have proof of valid rabies vaccination
o Subject to inspection and veterinary exam if ill

• Turtles <4 inch shell length (7 or more)
o Cannot be brought in for commercial purposes no matter the number
o Can be brought in for science, educational, or exhibition purposes with CDC permit
• Nonhuman primates (NHPs)
o Cannot be brought in as pets
o Cannot be brought in for commercial purposes
o Only imported by registered importers
• NHP Importation Requirements
o Minimum 31-day quarantine required
o Testing for infectious diseases required
o M. tuberculosis
• African Rodents
o May only be brought in for science, educational or exhibition purposes
o Must have permission from CDC Zoonoses Team
• Etiologic agents, hosts, and vectors include
o Bacteria, viruses, fungi, etc.
o Bats
o Can only be brought in for science, education or exhibition
o Must have a CDC etiologic agent permit
o NHP trophies
