Chewy announces partnership with Trupanion

Chewy and Trupanion have teamed up to provide pet insurance and wellness plans to over 20 million Chewy customers. Through this partnership, Chewy's customers will be able to receive both preventative care wellness and comprehensive insurance plans for illnesses, chronic conditions, and accidents.

“We are excited about our collaboration with Trupanion, with whom we share our values of customer centricity and product innovation,” said Mita Malhotra, vice president and head of Chewy Health, in a company release.

“The launch of customized care plans specifically designed for our customers is an important enhancement to the Chewy Health ecosystem, advancing our mission to make pet healthcare more affordable and accessible for all pet parents,” added Malhotra.

This new partnership will aid in propelling awareness among the pet parent community, thus simplifying the end-to-end process—from researching and purchasing pet insurance to filing, tracking, and paying for claims—while providing access to a suite of additional Chewy Health services. Combined, these offerings will help owners grant affordable and high-quality health care services to their pets.

In addition, Chewy will be able to leverage Trupanion's patented software to pay veterinarians directly, ergo reducing out-of-pocket expenses and improving access to care. What's more, customers will have access to a dedicated 24/7 customer service team and can purchase these plans exclusively on Chewy.com in Spring of 2022.
