For the second year, Chewy will donate 1 pound of food for every letter sent and provide special gifts for lucky pets

Chewy Claus will be sending special gifts and other presents to lucky pets that submit their holiday lists. The program is run by pet supply company Chewy, throughout the holiday season until December 15.

Chewy debuted its “Letters to Chewy Claus” program in 2022. This program allows pets to ask for treats, toys, a new wheelchair, or a reunion with their favorite person.1

As letters filter in this year, Chewy Claus read one from pitbull rescue pup, Blue, asking to be reunited with his owner, who is in the military and stationed in another state. Blue is currently being looked after by a family member until his owner, Dan, could come home. Chewy Claus granted Blue’s wish and helped reunite Blue and Dan.1

All pet species are encouraged to submit their wish by visiting Be.Chewy.com/Chewy-Claus. For every letter submitted to Chewy Claus before December 15, the company will donate 1 pound of food to a nonprofit partner, up to 200,000 pounds. Pets can also choose to defer their holiday gift and send an extra pound of food to pets in need.1

“At Chewy, we pride ourselves on taking the utmost care of pets and pet parents every day, but the holiday season is a special time to do even more,” said Orlena Yeung, VP of brand marketing at Chewy, in an organizational release. “We were thrilled by the enthusiasm and generosity our community demonstrated last year and knew we needed to make the program bigger for more pets to participate. We hope Chewy Claus is a tradition pets and their pet parents look forward to every year as much as we do.”1

Last year, nearly 80,000 letters were submitted to Chewy Claus, resulting in thousands of gift deliveries, and 80,000 pounds of food donated.1 Animal shelters are always in need of food donations, so in addition to donating through Chewy, local shelter websites should be viewed to see how to donate directly.

According to a Chewy representative, the pet company also plans to donate up to $1,000,000 to shelters in need which a customer purchase match. For every purchase made through Chewy now until January 3, 2024, Chewy will donate the same amount.
