This protocol choice relies on a less efficacious opioid, a weak opioid, rather than a pure-agonist (strong) opioid. If dental extractions are needed, pain management would be inadequate. The IV fluid rate is better in this protocol choice, but vasodilatation from the phenothiazine tranquilizer/sedative and the expected higher inhalant doses would promote hypotension. Tissue perfusion may be inadequate.
