The most frequent reason for fluid therapy would be for the prevention or treatment of dehydration, but fluid therapy is also used to try and replace ongoing losses and fix electrolyte- or acid-based arrangements. When it comes to emergency and critical care patients, fluid therapy is used to help patients suffering from hypovolemia.
