FORT COLLINS — Dr. Mo Salman, Colorado State University (CSU) epidemiologist and director of the Animal Health Population Institute, was the only American ever named to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) for a three-year term.
At the EFDSA, Salman will be one of the scientists responsible for assessing the risk regarding food and animal feed safety for the European Union.
The participation in this panel will allow us to contribute to the scientific knowledge in animal diseases and welfare for a sound decision-making process," Salman says. "It's an opportunity for CSU, through its Animal Population Health Institute, to identify research gaps in this field for further contribution to the animal health community."
A rigorous selection procedure was coordinated by EFSA scientists and reviewed by an external committee. Experts are renewed every three years with current members being re-elected or replaced.
